Data Entry, Surveys and Your Business - Finding Out Your Customer's Opinions

Many businesses suffer from the same disease which is not understanding their customers. Ultimately, it's a disease that can turn into a cancer as it can slowly kill off a business that has a lot of potential only to be either misunderstood or not relevant to their target audience.

There are a number of different ways to discover how people perceive your business and what they think about it, and one of the oldest and most regular, is still without doubt one of the best; surveys.

A survey can be a full A4 piece of paper or it can be a small card with a couple of questions, but either way, a questionnaire or survey can be a useful way of finding out what your customers want. One example is restaurants who are known and actually accepted to bring you a small survey to fill in when the bill is brought over after the meal. Surveys can also be left on the reception desk of your building or office for people to fill out if they want to. Offering an incentive is also a good way to get true opinions, such as a free lunch or a money off prize.

Once the surveys are filled out, there's then the matter of putting all the data together. There are companies that specifically deal with data entry and form data entry who can collect all of your data together for you and add it all into one convenient file for you to read, research and pass on to your marketing department in order to make changes if required. This can make a massive difference to your business and the clientele that you bring in.

Data entry companies usually have a large number of staff who are experts at entering text quick and accurately that has been handwritten. The likes of tick boxes and checks can usually be scanned in using specialist software, so if you're looking to do this as cheaply as possible, although without the true opinions that come with a handwritten response, then make your survey be purely based around tick boxes, as this will end up being a cheaper process when it comes to the data entry and capture side of it. Regular data entry by hand usually comes at a relatively low price, but technology isn't quite at a stage where all different types of handwriting can be recognised by computers, at least not yet.

Wait until you have a larger quantity of surveys filled out to send them out to your selected data entry company, as this will maximise the results and give you a much wider spectrum of opinion. You might get one or two people saying they're not happy about a certain thing, but they could be a minority, so gather a fair few first before sending them out. Usually the companies that do data entry will also do survey scanning, so that if you require both check boxes and handwritten data entry, they can provide both and combine the cost for a lower price.

More than ever finding out what your customers want and more importantly, need, is heavily important and is something that all businesses need to do if they aren't already. We're at a point in time where cash is not being thrown around so customers expect the best service for as little as possible, so it's important to keep them happy in order to keep them coming back. Survey scanning and data entry companies like these have a wide range of experience and knowledge in their field so make sure you look out for companies that have done this kind of work before. Keep your eyes out for companies that carry the ISO 9001 as well as ISO certification which is a guarantee of quality and data protection at the highest level.
